Associate Professor with Aggregation, with a PhD in Design (2011) at University of Aveiro. She is a member of 20 international scientific journals of which highlight: American Journal of Art and Design (USA) – Editorial Board; Journal of Visual Political Communication (UK) – Associate Editor; The Design Journal (UK) – Editorial Board; PAD (Italy) – Editorial Board; Designing in Dark Times (USA) – Advisory Board; INFODESIGN (Brazil) – Associate Editor; RChD (Chile) and EME (Spain) as a member of the Scientific Committee. She also belongs to the scientific committee of immense conferences. By invitation, she has also reviewed published books with international circulation and reviewed proposals for the publication of new books. In those contexts, highlights the invitations from publishers such as Bloomsbury, Routledge, Taylor and Francis Group, Intellect and Springer. She has written extensively, published books, book chapters, scientific journals, articles, and other publications, more than 200, being sole author in more than 100. Considering her international background, she has been invited to give lectures at several events in Quito, Rome, Warsaw, Hong Kong, Wuhan, Izmir, Aveiro, Lisbon, Faro, Helsinki, Castelo Branco, Jingdezhen, Istanbul, Venice, and Porto. Since 2010, she’s Member of the Board of AICV- Art, Illustration and Visual Culture conference, and she was invited in 2012, to be a Board Member of the ICDHS- International Committee of Design History and Design Studies. Her interests are related with design theory, Portuguese design history, design studies, visual and material culture, cultural heritage, patrimony, museology, museography, memory, illustration, and art.
